Patient Preparations
General anaesthesia for sleep dentistry is very safe when done by qualified anaesthetists. While all medical procedures have some risks, the chance of complications from general anaesthesia is very low, similar to the everyday risks we take when crossing the road.
Your anaesthetist will do a thorough check of your health, using the information you provide and any details from your family doctor or specialists. You can help by filling out health questionnaires promptly and accurately. If you’re unsure about any health conditions, ask your family doctor to send us your health summary.
We aim to complete medical evaluations and confirm your procedure within three business days, respecting your time. You may occasionally need a blood test or electrocardiogram (heart trace using sticky dots on the chest) before we can confirm the procedure.

Your anaesthetist will call you 1-2 weeks before your procedure to:
- Answer any questions you have
- Confirm your health status
- Give you instructions about your regular medications
- It’s very important not to stop any medications before your procedure without checking with your anaesthetist.
Please contact us if you would like to talk to your anaesthetist earlier
