The night before

Remember not to eat anything. Your anaesthetist will have told you what medications and drinks you can have when you wake up. If you’re unsure, it’s best not to take any medications or fluids before coming in.

Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and leave any jewellery at home. Don’t forget to bring your medications with you.

At the Dentist

Before you know it, you’ll wake up in the recovery room with the treatment all done!

A nurse sitting with young patients in the waiting room. They will help answer any questions on the day of your procedure.

On the day of your procedure, your dentist will greet you on arrival and answer any last-minute questions before your anaesthetist leads you to the procedure room. A family member or carer can stay with you to comfort you as you go to sleep.

There, you’ll be welcomed by your nurse and settled into a warm, comfy bed.

Your anaesthetist will then start your anaesthetic.
